When It’s Time for a New Oven: A Bertazzoni Oven Review

As you spend time looking for a new oven, you’re probably comparing features, price tags, craftmanship quality, and a few other things. Sometimes, it’s difficult to find all the information you’re looking for, and often even more difficult to examine things in comparison with each other.

To make that process easier, we’re comparing a Bertazzoni single wall oven with three other similar models, side-by-side, comparing warranties, price ranges, and ease of use. Each has similar features and a similar price tag, as well as varying features and ratings.

Hopefully, our review can help you better understand what you’re looking for in an oven, and whether or not the Bertazzoni single oven is the model you’re looking for.

The Bertazzoni Professional Series PROFS24XV is a 24-inch single wall oven. It’s touted as energy efficient by the manufacturer, and intuitive and easy-to-use due to the interface and ergonomic knobs and touch controls.

There are multiple shelf positions within the oven, which uses convection heat and technology to evenly circulate the heat throughout the oven.

Bertazzoni itself is a 130-year old family-owned company from a region in Italy known for its food. The Bertazzoni company specializes in premium kitchen appliances like stoves, ovens, dishwashers and refrigerators. If it’s food related, they make it.

How the Bertazzoni Oven Works

The Bertazzoni PROFS24XV is a convection oven. Technically, all ovens are convection ovens, but this means that the oven uses interior fans to evenly distribute heat and cook food. This type of oven is called a forced convection oven.

Most convection ovens are less humid, and therefore are not the best for baking things like bread and cookies. The convection function, however, can be turned off, to create a more humid environment within the oven cavity.

Most convection ovens also cook food faster because the circulating air within transfers the heat faster to the food inside.

For the most versatility in cooking, a convection oven is the best route to go.

Price Range for the Bertazzoni Oven

The Bertazzoni oven will run you about a thousand and fifty dollars at most retailers online. This includes the manufacturer’s warranty, but most retailers also offer extended warranties that you may wish to purchase. These often cost a few hundred dollars, and may last as long as ten years, depending on the company.

Before purchasing any appliances, be sure to evaluate the prices and sales at various retailers to ensure you get the best price possible. Unless you’re in dire need, we’d recommend waiting until the annual and holiday sales come up, and drop the prices on these types of appliances.

Warranty Information for the Bertazzoni Oven

The Bertazzoni company offers a 2-year parts and labor warranty for this single oven model. This is a fairly average warranty rated at 4 out of 5 stars. Not many companies offer anything better for their appliances – Viking is the exception.

Most retailers offer additional extended warranties than any purchaser may buy, to extend the life of their new appliances. Since these are major investments for most of us, these extended warranties are well worth considering to save money and frustration in the long run.

How Does the Bertazzoni Oven Compare to the Competition?

In our comparison, we’re looking at the Bertazzoni Professional Series PROFS24XV along side a similar oven from Haier, Whirlpool, and Frigidaire. Each oven is a single oven, has similar basic features, and runs in a similar price range.

We’re examining how easy it is to use each oven, and why, what kind of price differences we’ve found, and the warranties available for each one.

Comparisons: Bertazzoni Professional Series PROFS24XV Oven Versus Haier HCW225LAES

Both the Bertazzoni and the Haier single ovens have multiple positions for the racks, LCD displays, and different cooking modes. The Haier offers quite a number more than the Bertazzoni, however.

Price

The Haier HCW225LAES will run you between a thousand to one thousand and a hundred dollars. There’s not much price difference between the two, but the Haier has a few more options and features that may make it a better value.

Ease of Use

With solid convection technology for even cooking, easy-to-position racks in multiple locations throughout the oven, and an LCD display with sensor touch control, the Haier HCW225LAES is an easy-to-use, slightly more than basic single oven.

The Haier comes with 10 cooking modes as well.

Overall, the Haier earns 4 out of 5 stars for ease-of-use.

Warranty

The Haier comes with a 2-year parts and labor warranty from the manufacturer.

As with most products, most of the retailers selling the Haier HCW225LAES offer their own extended warranties that you may purchase to extend the parts and labor life of the oven.

The Haier brand itself is known for quality manufacturing, so you might not think to extend the warranty, but for a few hundred bucks, it’s always a good idea to protect your major appliances for a few more years of life.

Comparisons: The Bertazzoni Professional Series PROFS24XV Oven Versus the Whirlpool WOS11EM4EB

The Bertazzoni and Whirlpool single wall oven have a number of features in common, but the Whirlpool has some things we particularly like, such as being Star-K and ADA certified.

Price

The Whirlpool WOS11EM4EB will run you between nine hundred to a grand, which is within thirty dollars of the Bertazzoni model we’re looking at.

Whirlpool is known for quality, but not necessarily regarded as “high-end” or “luxury” as Bertazzoni. It is, however, a well-known brand that most of us associate with quality craftsmanship and good customer service.

Ease of Use

The Whirlpool WOS11EM4EB is a comparable unit that offers a number of easy-to-use features. For example, the Whirlpool is ADA certified, meaning it’s suitable for those with disabilities. The AccuBake system makes for even baking, which means no turning the pan or worrying about sections going uncooked.

The delay cook setting, Sabbath mode, and touch control digital display this an overall easy-to-use oven, rated at 4 out of 5 stars for ease-of-use.

Warranty

This Whirlpool model comes with a one-year warranty for parts and labor. This is a rather limited warranty, and not as good a warranty as many other brands offer, so we’re rating this as 3 out of 5 stars for warranty.

For comparison purposes, the Bertazzoni we’re looking at has a 4 out of 5 star rating for warranty.

Comparisons: Bertazzoni Professional Series PROFS24XV Oven Versus Frigidaire FFEW2425QS

The Bertazzoni and Frigidaire have a lot in common. However, one of the biggest differences is the self-cleaning mode, which none of the other models we’ve looked at offer.

Price

The Frigidaire FFEW2425QS can be purchased for somewhere between a thousand dollars to a thousand and three hundred at various retailers. The Bertazzoni usually runs about the same price as the low end price-range for this oven from Frigidaire.

Ease of Use

One thing that we love about this model versus the others we’ve looked at today, is that it is a self-cleaning oven. This oven has a 2, 3, or 4 hour cleaning cycle, which makes it much easier to use than a number of other similar models without this mode.

Other things that make this oven rate as a 4.5 out of 5 stars for ease-of-use are the two broiler heat settings, Ready-Select controls for easy selection and control, the automatic shut-off, and 5 rack positions.

This oven from Frigidaire is also ADA certified for use by those with disabilities. This is something we particularly love because it’s useable for those with mobility issues, and it’s just easier to use than other models that don’t meet that standard.

Warranty

The Frigidaire FFEW2425QS comes with a one-year limited warranty from the manufacturer. This warranty covers complete costs of repair or parts replacements on appliances used properly. This earns the warranty a 4 out of 5 stars. The Bertazzoni has almost exactly the same warranty.

  • There’s multiple modes for cooking different types of food more easily than a truly basic mid-range oven
  • The oven is well lit on the interior with a wide window, which is perfect for checking on cooking status at a glance
  • It’s got a decent capacity size for a smaller size oven
  • The multiple positions for the two oven racks make for easier baking and cooking for almost any kind of recipe
  • The oven has a super easy to use interface that makes for easier, faster adaptation to use for all cooking needs
  • The knobs have a specially crafted ergonomic design for higher comfort during use

Cons

  • The Bertazzoni oven has no proofing option
  • There’s no Sabbath mode setting
  • There’s no temperature probe
  • The Bertazzoni Professional Series PROFS24XV has no self-cleaning mode
  • There’s no delay bake setting
  • The Bertazzoni cannot be converted to LP gas
  • This oven is not Star-K certified
  • The Bertazzoni is not ADA compliant

Our Verdict

If you’re looking for a basic, high-quality 24-inch single oven, the Bertazzoni Professional Series PROFS24XV is an excellent choice. The basic features are excellent, the whole machine is well-made, and comes from a trusted brand. For those looking for a well-trusted, easy-to-use, solid appliance, the Bertazzoni Professional Series PROFS24XV is one of the most economical choices for a high-end quality oven.

Honestly, the Bertazzoni is just an average oven that’s easy-to-use. If that’s all you need, this really is a great option for a small kitchen.

If, however, you’re looking for a more advanced option with features like self-cleaning or a larger number of cooking modes, you will want to look elsewhere.
